Next Steps
Answer the following questions, journal about them, pray about them, or discuss them with a counselor or trusted friend.
-
What is an example of Type A trauma (the absence of a good thing) from your life that you would like God to heal? Don’t stir anything up that’s not already there, but if you know of anything now, go ahead and ask the Lord to heal this place in your life. It’s also good to write these requests to God in a journal, so you can look back later and be encouraged by all the miracles God has done and all the prayers He has answered.
-
What is an example of Type B trauma (a bad thing that happened) from your life that you would like God to heal? Again, there’s no need to stir anything up. God will bring these things to the surface in His own timing.

Unmet expectations are tied very closely with trauma. Either, you got something you didn’t expect (Type B trauma) or you didn’t get something you did expect (Type A trauma). Continue to the section on
Failure & Disappoinment to learn more about how to heal from unmet expectations in your life.
Now pray this prayer with us:
God, life is hard. I guess You know that already. There has been so much hurt and pain in my life, and I need Your healing. I need Your peace. I need Your redemption. Lord, meet me in these hurt places and turn them around for Your glory. I trust You as my healer, to protect me and guide me through my past, so I can live in your freedom in the present. I know that You love me and that You have the very best in store for me. Please continue to teach me to trust You, as You work out Your promises in me. I love You, God. Amen.
