Next Steps
Answer the following questions, journal about them, pray about them, or discuss them with a counselor or trusted friend.
-
What did you dream of as a child? As a teenager? In your college years? What about your later years? Your twenties, thirties, and forties?
-
Where did your dreams die? Where and why did those dreams die? What caused them to go from God-sized dreams to me-sized dreams?
-
Which of these dreams are of God (that bring Him glory and are bigger than you are)? Which of them are of you?
-
Now, look at your dreams and give each one of them to God. For the ones that were of you, surrender them to Him and commit to Him, "Lord, not my will, but Yours be done." For those that are of God, give them back to Him and ask Him to be Lord over those dreams once again.
-
Thank God for your dreams and for all the promises that He's given you, and trust Him to fulfill every one of them as you follow after Him.
Now pray this prayer with us:
Father, thank you for my dreams. Thyank you for not leaving me without direction in this world, but for giving me a future and a hope and a promise. Lord, I surrender my dreams to you, so that you can do them in your own way and your own time, and I pray that you will continue to reveal and clarify and direct these dreams in my life. I truest you and will follow you as you lead me down this incredible path that you've given me. I love you, Lord. Amen.
