Conclusion: This Is What You Were Made For
I remember a specific time in my life when God used me in a particularly powerful, influential, and unexpected way, and I began to question why He used little, insignificant me as His instrument in all of it. God answered me that it was just the beginning of the training for what was to come, but I assured Him that I was not worthy or capable of such a calling (“thanks, but no thanks!”)
Then all at once, God showed me, one after another, all the influential people in the Bible who had at first said the same thing, and then He told me this. “Do not think for even a second that I can’t or that I won’t do these things in you! For I said that even greater things will you do!” (see
John 14:12)
The problem is, as exciting as that sounds, it’s really hard to believe. We’re going to do greater things than Jesus did on this earth (other than dying for our sins, of course)! And yet, we somehow believe that God does not want this for us? How many times does He have to say it before we believe?
It comes back to the fear of pride again. But there’s a big difference between pride and confidence. So often our insecurities become a cushion for our pride, and we start walking around not believing in ourselves – not believing in who God says that we are or in the potential that God says we have. But ALL things are possible with God! (
Matthew 19:26,
Mark 10:27) God has made us to be kings and priests (
Revelation 1:6) and to walk in the authority of His resurrection. That’s not pride. That’s knowing who you are. That’s knowing
whose you are.
It is as Mordecai told Esther, “… who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such at time as this?” (
Esther 4:14) God has given you incredible dreams because He is an incredible God. It’s the life you were made for, and He will fulfill your dreams if you will just believe in them once again, and give Him the chance.
